About Slovak courses at Mareena, Košice

We have been organizing Slovak language courses in Košice since August 2022. We started with groups for complete beginners and today we offer full levels A1, A2, B1 and B2, taught using the popular Krížom Krážom textbook series. In addition to standard levels, we also run conversation courses and are preparing to launch ECL exam preparation courses.

Our students are diverse — most participants come from Ukraine, but we also regularly teach people from non-Slavic countries who need to start from the very basics. What they all share is the desire to communicate, feel more confident in everyday life and find their place here.

Many students stay with us long-term and continue to higher levels — thanks to our patient, friendly and empathetic lecturers who create a safe and supportive learning environment.

How do the courses work?

We organize courses in three trimesters:
Autumn: September – December / Winter: January – March / Spring: April – June.

The standard duration is 12 weeks with a total of 24 or 36 hours (2 × 1 hour or 2 × 1.5 hours per week).

Classes are held mainly in the afternoons on weekdays, which suits most students best. However, if there is sufficient interest, we can also open morning groups and courses after 20:00 — we want everyone to find a time that fits their schedule.

Teaching takes place primarily in person at our premises at Hlavná 68 in Košice.
From September 2025, we will also offer ONLINE courses, allowing students to learn remotely with the same quality.
