Change often starts among people – when they listen to each other, connect, and take action together.
Do you want to bring change to your community so it can influence the issues that matter to it?

We are looking for a Community Organizer who will work directly with members of migrant communities, map their needs, bring forward solutions, and support the development of active communities that can shape their environment.

Become a voice for your community within our team working to make Slovakia a better place for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

The Community Organizer will primarily:

  • build and strengthen relationships within migrant communities;
  • map needs and gather inputs and perspectives from their community;
  • identify barriers and challenges faced by migrants in Slovakia;
  • collect and propose solutions and recommendations for improvement;
  • actively participate in Mareena’s meetings and activities focused on systemic change in integration and inclusion;
  • collaborate with the Community Engagement team and contribute to organizing activities and events;
  • contribute to the development of joint recommendations, position statements, and advocacy outputs towards public and private institutions;
  • identify and support potential new community organizers within their community.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • is proactive and motivated to create positive change;
  • can build trust and work with diverse groups of people;
  • is a good listener but also able to actively reach out and mobilize others;
  • is comfortable working “in the field” and engaging directly with communities;
  • has established connections within a specific migrant community (e.g. Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Iranian, Arabic-speaking, African communities, etc.) and understands its needs;
  • can represent and advocate for their community towards organizations and public institutions;
  • communicates sensitively, professionally, and with respect for diversity;
  • is reliable, independent, and well-organized;
  • has an interest in integration, inclusion, and public policy;
  • has a working knowledge of Slovak and/or English;
  • speaks the language of the community they represent.

Nice to have

  • experience in community work, facilitation, or advocacy;
  • experience in the non-profit sector, public administration, or civic initiatives.

What We Offer

  • meaningful work with a real impact on society;
  • opportunity to co-create advocacy agendas and contribute to systemic change;
  • collaboration with experts and organizations working in migration and integration;
  • space for professional and personal development;
  • flexible working hours adapted to your availability.
If you are interested, please send us your CV and a short motivation letter explaining why you would like to become a Community Organizer in your community.
