Education
It is important for us to have common understanding in society. That is why we carry out educational activities that contribute to the fact that foreigners can be fully integrated into society.
We offer foreign language courses led by native speakers to give locals opportunity to learn more about foreigners and foreign cultures.
The educational programme offers the opportunity to improve their skills, learn something new about a different culture and the opportunity to actively spend your free time with Mareena. Have a look at our current offer of courses and one that suits you.
Community activities
Open community sparks activism, helps making connections and links individuals and organisations. Mareena creates a space connecting diverse people and builds inclusive communities anywhere possible. Since 2017, we have run our educational, community and cultural activities in Bratislava community centre and our partners’ venues in Nitra, Trenčín, Banská Bystrica, Košice.
Engagement
The Engagement programme is a flagship of Mareena - volunteers helped us lay the foundations of our organisation and stimulate the organisation’s growth. We give our volunteers space to help foreigners living in Slovakia and to do what they enjoy and what they’re good at - we do not require any specific experiences, we value dedication and motivation to learn and try new things. We appreciate their contribution and want them to benefit from volunteering too.
Mareena has five volunteering communities – in Nitra, Košice, Bratislava, Trenčín and Banská Bystrica. Would you like to join them and become our volunteer?
Awareness raising
Open discussions on migration and integration are key to our work, as they contribute to greater understanding and more functional solutions for us all. We engage the public through activities designed for various environments and use the voices and stories of foreigners living in Slovakia. We believe that personal experience and first-hand accounts are a way to better understand migration and make societies more open to diversity. To achieve this, we actively work with schools, companies, and the public, provide educational opportunities to our volunteers, and join in expert fora.
