The winter trimester of Slovak language courses starts on 12 January 2026. Below you will find the courses that we definitely plan to open. If any of the courses suit you, the registration link is included in the course description. A course is opened provided that at least 7 participants register.

Course description:
This beginner Slovak course is intended for students who are starting Slovak from the very basics. Teaching follows the textbook Krížom krážom A1 (Kamenárová, R., & Švanová, E. (2020). Krížom krážom. Slovenčina A1. 3rd edition. SPN – Mladé letá), with an emphasis on practical communication, understanding common everyday situations and gradually building vocabulary in a safe and supportive environment.

Course description:
The A1+ course is intended for students who already know the basics of Slovak and want to consolidate them and expand their vocabulary. Lessons start from the middle (from Chapter 6) of the textbook Krížom krážom A1 (Kamenárová, R. et al. (2020). Krížom krážom. Slovenčina A1. Comenius University Bratislava) and focus on practical communication in everyday situations so that students feel more confident using the language.

Course description:
The A2 course is intended for students who already have basic knowledge of Slovak and want to continue expanding their vocabulary and everyday communication skills. Teaching follows the textbook Krížom krážom A2 (Kamenárová, R. et al. (2020). Krížom krážom. Slovenčina A2. Comenius University Bratislava). The course starts from Chapter 4 (out of 10), building on existing knowledge and helping students gain greater confidence in more fluent conversation.

Course description:
The B1 course is intended for students with intermediate knowledge of Slovak who want to improve their comprehension, grammar and communication in various everyday situations. Teaching follows the textbook Krížom krážom B1 (Kamenárová, R. et al. (2025). Krížom krážom. Slovenčina B1. Comenius University Bratislava). The course starts from Chapter 3, building on existing knowledge and helping students develop fluency and confidence in the language.

Course description:
The B2 course is intended for students with more advanced knowledge of Slovak who want to improve fluency, accuracy and confidence in communication. Teaching follows the textbook Krížom-krážom: Slovenčina B2 (Gabríková, A. et al. (2022). Studia Academica Slovaca). The course starts from Chapter 3, building on existing knowledge and enabling students to develop the ability to hold more complex conversations, understand more demanding texts and use grammar more precisely.

Course description:
Course based on the textbook: Morvayová, S. (2025). Slovenský jazyk pre pracovné účely, Mareena.
Topics include:
Job search, job interviews, office and workplace essentials, workplace hierarchy, workplace communication, team coordination, customer communication, career development and job opportunities, workplace safety and regulations, production and crafts, workplace etiquette, cultural differences at work, and more.
The course consists of 36 hours (1.5 hours twice a week). It is suitable for participants with a minimum Slovak level of A2 (students from Slavic countries) or B1 (students from non-Slavic countries).

Cancellation policy
We understand that plans may change and therefore aim to be as accommodating as possible.
Cancellation before the course starts
If you inform us no later than 5 working days before the course start, we refund 100% of the paid amount.
If you cancel less than 5 days before the course starts, we refund 50% of the course fee.
Cancellation after the course has started
Once the course has started, course fees are non-refundable, as the place in the group is reserved and the course runs as planned.
However, in case of exceptional life circumstances (e.g. health issues, relocation), please contact us — we will always try to find a solution.
Course cancellation or schedule changes by Mareena
If we have to cancel a course for organizational reasons, we will offer an alternative date or refund 100% of the paid amount.
In case of schedule changes, you may choose to accept the new dates or request a full refund.

Textbooks and borrowing
Textbooks required for Slovak courses can be borrowed from us. Upon borrowing a textbook, a €25 deposit is required. The deposit will be fully refunded if the textbook is returned by the agreed date, in condition corresponding to normal wear and tear, and together with the original receipt confirming the deposit payment.
If a student does not continue in the course, the textbook must be returned no later than 30 days after the end of the course. The exact return date can be arranged by email at kurzy.kosice@mareena.sk.
If the textbook is not returned on time or in adequate condition, the deposit becomes non-refundable and will be used as a donation to Mareena o.z. to support educational activities.
