The education and professional development programme offers workshops, courses and other educational activities designed for people from abroad. Their aim is to help better orient oneself in the new environment, understand the new country and its inhabitants, develop one's potential and find employment on the local labour market.
It also brings different countries and their culture closer to local residents through foreign language courses.
The quality of education is a priority for us, that’s why all courses are facilitated by experienced lecturers, who focus on an individualised approach. Once the course has been completed (attended at least 70 % of the classes) you receive a certificate of its completion.
Another important issue for us is that education should be available to everyone. We try to establish cooperation with public and private institutions, and to make the most of those collaborations.
COURSES, WORKSHOPS, COUNSELING
The Slovak language courses are aimed at everyone who decided to live and work in Slovakia. In Mareena we offer Slovak language courses focused on familiarising with the Slovak language and bacic phrases, developing communication skills, as well as communication in everyday situations.
It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or you want to improve your Slovak and be able to communicate better with friends, in institutions, or in the workplace.
In Mareena we currently run Ukrainian language courses. Whether you are a complete beginner or intermediate, are in regular contact with Ukranian refugees or just want to use your free time in a meaningful way.
We can arrange individual Russian, Arabic, Farsi or Swahili courses upon personal request. The course takes the form of one-hour sessions, twice a week, lasting 3 months.
The conversation course is designed to expand your vocabulary in the Slovak language. During the lessons, students will improve their pronunciation and stop being shy when using the Slovak language. Regardless of the level of the language, everyone is welcome who is interested in continuously improving their Slovak language skills under the guidance of the lecturer. The aim of the course is also to contribute to improving the participants' language skills to such an extent that they feel confident while speaking, and thus have no problem in everyday communication during their life in Slovakia. After completing such a course, communication in Slovak is more fluent and reactions to individual situations are faster.
The aim of socio-cultural workshops is to help foreigners to get more easily oriented and understand the methods of better inclusion into everyday life in a new country. The participants will be introduced to social, political and legal aspects of life in Slovakia at theoretical but mainly practical level. The important part of the workshop is to get to know the Slovak history and presentation of the Slovak culture, traditions and habits. The content of the workshops is adapted to the current needs of the participants, whether they have just arrived in Slovakia or have lived here for some time.
We provide career counseling in Bratislava (Assistance Centre of Help) and Košice (at the Integration Center of the Košice Region). It consists of individual consultations and group meetings. Group meetings enable peer learning, sharing experiences, and improve motivation. Individual consultations provide space for developing an individual development plan, setting goals and the steps necessary to achieve them. The goal is to help participants align their skills with the demands of the labor market, lead them to be proactive and motivate them to develop skills for managing their own careers.
We believe that this program can be the key to starting or improving personal and professional development and to better application in the labor market. The quality of our program was also appreciated by the jury at the awarding of the National Career Counseling Award in 2019 and 2020.
