PACES is a three-year project (2023-2026) funded by Horizon Europe. Its primary objective is to encourage migration policymakers to base their decisions on migration science. The project consists of an interdisciplinary consortium with 10 experienced partners and 4 associated partners, ranging from universities to non-profit organizations. PACES takes a groundbreaking approach to studying migration and migration policies. It aims to develop a comprehensive yet lean framework that addresses the complexities of multi-level changes influencing migration. The project also aims to provide new insights into public knowledge and opinion on migration policies.
One key aspect of the project is its investigation into the evolution of EU and national policies concerning labour and family migration. By analysing the extent to which current migration policies are evidence-based, PACES aims to identify areas where valuable insights from migration decision-making research can improve policy development. Through its interdisciplinary consortium and co-participatory research, PACES strives to contribute to more effective models of EU migration governance that account for future social transformations and uncertainties. This approach maximizes the scientific, political, and social impact of the project.
